Butternut Squash is a favored variety amongst chefs because of the sweet, nutty and zesty flavor similar to pumpkin. The flesh is dark orange with high sugar that caramelizes beautifully. Its thick, good texture is ideal for purees and baking in breads. Enhance the spice flavor with nutmeg and cinnamon!


As the Squash grows on the vine it becomes sweeter and richer in flavor. Our Farmer grows the Butternut Squash along the central coast of California and waits for the Squash to be of perfect coloring, indicating apt ripeness.


Due to the smooth exterior, the Butternut Squash is one of the easiest winter Squashes to prepare. A favored way to serve Butternut Squash is to cut in half, bake the halves, and scoop out the cooked flesh and enjoy or peel and cut into cubes and roast or steam. We have tried many Butternut Squashes and this is the best we have found!
