Description:
The Black Twig Apple is a tart, tangy apple that is perfect for desserts and for making cider. The Apple’s skin is light yellow, green with faint brushes of red. The flesh is soft yellow and dense. Black Twigs’ body brings tannic acids to sweet or hard ciders for the perfect kick. This variety is best when stored and refrigerated to reach peak flavor.
The flavor of some Apples actually improves with storage, and the Black Twig is one of those varieties. After some time in the cooler, the tannins will smooth out, and the sugar will become more apparent.
We purchase all our Farmers’ Market Apples from a coastal farmer who does not irrigate his trees once they are mature. Conserving water by dry farming is the height of sustainability.
