Description:
After it’s plucked from the tree and ripened, the Arkansas Black turns dark burgundy. It is sometimes referred to as the Snow White Apple because of the dark skin and light flesh. This is the darkest Apple variety and the best storing apple; it also continues to darken as stored! The flesh is hard, crunchy with a creamy white, pale yellow color contrasting the ebony skin. Arkansas Blacks are wonderfully aromatic!Arkansas Blacks originated in the mid-19th Century from Arkansas, hence the name. Our Arkansas Blacks are grown on a Certified Organic Apple Orchard in Santa Barbara, California. They are a late season Apple that chefs anxiously anticipate.
Recommended for baking because of the tartness, Arkansas Blacks are also wonderful eaten fresh, juiced or used for hard cider. The complex flavors with notes of green mango and coriander complement well with salt and chilies. They bake the most decedent Apple Pie that will wonderfully overwhelm your taste buds. You will taste the difference!
