Description:
Originally from in Islamabad, Pakistan, the Pakistan Mulberry is one of the highest quality varieties of Mulberries! According to UC Davis California Rare Fruit Growers, Inc., Pakistan Mulberries are highly recommended to be grown in “mild winter areas such as southern California”, which is exactly where our farmers grow them! They grow about 1 to 1.5 inches in length and have stronger skin than Persian Mulberries making it easier to transport and prepare for chefs.
The Pakistan Mulberry tree produces what looks like an elongated Blackberry with a burgundy, ruby red color. The fruit is sweet with a mild like Raspberry flavor with a fine balance of flavor. Due to its rarity, chefs flock to the market to put the Pakistan Mulberry on their menu.
Burosh Sapik, is the 700 year-old, traditional Pakistan recipe that pairs Mulberry chutney with layers of Paneer Chapati, a Pakistani cheese bread. They are great for desserts too; try a Mulberry tart or a mixed Berry crumble cake!
